Imagination and Knowledge

Fri Dec 11, 2009, 10:27 AM
Imagination is more important than knowledge - Albert Einstein,
Knowledge has some limitation and imagination gives creativity with give advance actions to the future.
How can we live with dreams and how can we live with theory, both aspects are important in our lives. What help us produce creativity and wisdom is imagination and knowledge. One cannot live one of the others.
My mother repeated to me this quote in Hindi when i was 10th standard, I didn't know what do say in English, My grandfather told me this quote. I didn't understand after 10th standard, I asked my grandfather, why and what are difference knowledge and imagination? "If you don't have knowledge what makes you imagine ? If you don't have power of imagination what makes you imagine ? Knowledge. Imagination comes from within, Knowledge comes from Book"
When i was in 2nd year BFA from J.J institute of Applied Art, my dad asked me why you don't read the book, i said, no dad, it's commercial art, its not take knowledge, only imagination,"imagination is better than knowledge", he shocked and has been silent. I explained him I have lots of creative through my mind. I painted Ganpati on the paper, i had praticipated for the Ganpati competitions, i got awards from the Times of India.
When I came to NID, i have no idea about information, i have to read more information along with imagination.
Knowledge is important but only if people know how to apply it in different fields of activity. However, one has to be intelligent enough and have imagination in order to achieve his goals in life.

I will never forget this quote.
